REVELATION 9:20,21

"REPENTANCE"

Intro: John's message "Repent,..."Jesus message except ye repent,... "To the churches repent.

I. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO REPENT?
        A. It is not just being sorry.
                1. Many are sorry for what they have done, but they keep on doing it.
                2. "Godly sorrow leads to repentance."
        B. It is a turning away from, a forsaking.
                1. It's being so sorry that you quit.

II. GOD'S FEARFUL JUDGMENTS HERE IN CHAPTER 9.
        A. Demon hordes out of the abyss.
                1. Torment for 5 months.
                2. Death takes a holiday.
        B. Invasion by great army of 200,000,000.
                1. 1/3 of population destroyed.
        C. Why such awful judgment.
                1. Men had violated God's laws.
                        a. He gave them the rules for a happy prosperous peaceful life.
                2. They forsook His ways
                3. What were they doing?
                        a. Worshipping devils seeking guidance from.
                                1. Ouigi boards.
                                2. Mediums.
                                3. Horoscopes.
                        b. Worshipping idols.
                                1. Man must worship something, it is in ate in his being.
                                2. If he does not worship God, he must find substitute.
                                3. He mocks you for worshipping God the goes home to worship
                                   his boat.
                                4. The folly of worshipping idols. They neither see, hear or
                                   walk.
                        c. Committing murder.
                        d. Using drugs for thrills.
                4. Committing fornication pressures today.
                5. Stealing.
        D. For these causes came the wrath of God.

III. "THEY REPENTED NOT"  THEY WOULD NOT TURN AWAY."
        A. What does it take to bring a man to repentance.
                1. Judgments usually harden a sinner.
                        a. they do bring the righteous to repentance "When my judgments are 
                           in the land..."
                2. "Godly sorrow leads to repentance."
                        a. The Bible speaks of Judas remorse.
                        b. It speaks of Peter's repentance, "wept bitterly."
                        c. It must be a work of God in my life.
                                1. I cannot create repentance in you.
                                2. I may seek to make you sorry.
                                        a. End up sorry, not that you did it, but that you met
                                           me.
                3. "The goodness of God brings a man to repentance."
                        a. In spite of your sins God loves you.
                        b. Jesus took all your sins on Himself.
                        c. These fearsome judgments only upon those who have rejected His 
                           goodness.
