REVELATION 3: 20

"YOU MUST OPEN THE DOOR"

Intro: The message of Jesus the faithful witness to the Laodician church no longer a true
witness. No longer holding to the divine authorship and inerrancy of the scriptures, the deity
of Christ, the lukewarm church has put Christ out. Salvation is an individual matter, He
stands at the door of your heart and knocks.

I. CONSIDER WHO IT IS, WHO IS KNOCKING AT YOUR DOOR.
        A. Jesus Christ the Son of God.
                1. Perhaps you have faulted the innkeeper in the Christmas story for not 
                   making room.
                2. Just think, "He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, the world
                   knew..."
                        a. But now He comes to you, He is knocking at your door.
                        b. Will you receive Him?
                3. He fills the universe, "The heavens of heavens cannot contain Him."
                        a. He wants to fill your heart.
                        b. He wants to be at home in your life.

Il. "IF ANY MAN WILL HEAR MY VOICE AND OPEN THE DOOR."
        A. He is speaking to you today, can you hear His voice?
                1. Maybe you scoff at us who claim to hear His voice, even feel a little sorry.
                2. You don't know how sorry I feel for you if you have never heard His voice.
                3. That small inner tugging to do right.
                4. He sometimes uses drastic means to get your attention.
                        a. Loss of lob, family, home.
                        b. Better you lose those than lose your soul.
        B. "And open the door..."
                1. He knocks, He calls, but He will not open the door.
                        a. He will never make a forced entry into your life.
                        b. He only comes in by invitation.
                2. He leaves the choice up to you.
                        a. He makes His offers of life, hope, joy, peace, then leaves it to 
                           you to accept or reject.
                        b. He wants to give you a rich inheritance for eternity, but He will
                           never force you to take it.
        C. You must open the door.

Ill. "l WILL COME IN TO HIM, AND EAT SUPPORT WITH HIM."
        A. What the Lord is seeking today is a close intimate fellowship with you.
                1. He can't stand these lukewarm relationship. "All or nothing at all."
                        a. He loves you so much, He wants your life to center around Him.
                        b. He knows how empty and disappointing any other focal point  becomes.
                        c. He doesn't want a casual relationship, He desires a total 
                           relationship.
                        d. He wants far more than occasional communion, He wants constant
                           communion.
                2. The message of Christ knocking at the door is primarily to the lukewarm
                   saint rather than the sinner.
                        a. How long since you told Him how much you love Him?
                        b. How long since you have experienced the ecstasy of sitting with Him
                           lust holding His hand?
                        c. How long since your heart flamed with His love?
        B. "I will eat supper with you."
                1. This speaks of the deepest most intimate kind of relationship.
                        a. I will become a part of you.
                        b. You will become a part of me.
                        c. We will become a part of each other.
        C. He's knocking today at your lukewarm heart, what are you going to do about it?
