REVELATION 3:14-22

I. "THE AMEN, THE FAITHFUL AND TRUE WITNESS."
        A. The language of the faithful God who brings things to pass as he has
                promised.
                1. The church has failed.
                2. Christ remains.
        B. He speaks here as Creator.

II. CONDITION KNOWN "I KNOW THY WORKS."
        A. Their spiritual state.
                1. Neither hot or cold - lukewarm.
                2. Luke warm bespeaks a compromise.
        B. Supreme self confidence  "Thou sayest."
        C. Ignorance of true position.
                1. "Thou sayest - knowest not."
        D. The imminent danger "I will spue thee out." Note their proud blind pretensions.
           "I am rich" Count their numbers, their wealth, their worldly importance, their
           great cathedrals, churches, universities. Lobbyist. The Bedouin church would reform
           the world That crucified Christ denounces those who from scripture point that evil
           man shall wax worse and worse." They do not look for personal return of Christ.
                "Need of Nothing"   lethurgy.
                        Their poverty in view of the riches in Christ they could know.


III. LOVING COUNSEL.
        A. Even to this apostate church.
        B. "As many as I love I reprove and Chasten."
                1. Christ still asserts love toward them.
                2. "Faithful is the word of a friend."
                3. Too few preachers today are willing to follow exhortation reprove, rebuke.
                4. Some of this church have repented.

IV. "BEHOLD I STAND AT THE DOOR AND KNOCK."
        A. Plea of one who is meek and lowly.
                1. If we found ourselves locked out of where we rightfully belong assert our
                   rights or leave in wrath.
                2. Stand patiently still and knocks.
        B. Three important facts.
                1. People can belong to Christ's church and not belong to Christ.
                        a. Never hearing Christ's voice.
                2. Anyone may hearken who will.
                3. The door opens from within.

Unbelief to take glorious truth of Divine election and make fatalism of it. Try to blame their
own unwillingness upon God. "HOW OFTEN I WOULD, BUT YE WOULD NOT."
        "I WILL COME IN."
        "YOU IN CHRIST."
        "CHRIST IN YOU." Gal. 1:16, 2:20, 4:19
                                        Eph. 3:14,19

V. PROMISE TO OVERCOMERS.
        A. "The highest place is within reach of the lowest."
