I JOHN 1:6, 7

MESSAGE -- "GOD IS LIGHT"

I. FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD THE DIVINE PURPOSE FOR MAN.
        A. This purpose we see fulfilled in the garden before the fall.
                1. Adam walked with God.
                2. Sin broke that fellowship.
                        a. Isaiah 59.
        B. What God gains through this fellowship.
                1. I really don't know.
                2. Needed object upon which to bestow His love.
        C. I know what man gains.

II. FELLOWSHIP IMPOSSIBLE WHILE WALKING IN DARKNESS.
        A. What concourse hath Christ with Belial?
                1. What fellowship hath light with darkness?
        B. You cannot have fellowship with God while walking in sin.
                1. To assert it is to lie.
                2. "And do not the truth."
                        a. Not live in harmony or according to the truth.

II. FELLOWSHIP COMES BY WALKING IN LIGHT.
        A. Walking in light is living an open life.
                1. Men do not come to the light because the darkness covers their evil deeds.
                2. A true Christian is not two-faced, he lives an open life.

IV. RESULTS OF THIS FELLOWSHIP.
        A. And the blood of Jesus Christ His Son continually cleanses us from all sin.
                1. The life of continuing fellowship now possible because of continuing
                   cleansing.
        B. In OId Testament sins covered by blood of animals.
                1. Now put away through blood of Jesus Christ.
                2. When God paid such a price to free us, it is an insult to God for us to
try to offer our good works or moral platitudes.
