"THE CROSS THROUGH THE OPEN TOMB"

I. WHAT THE CROSS MEANS TO OUR PAST SINS. 
        A. Perfect sacrifice has been made.
                1. Not possible that blood of bulls or goats could take away sin.
                2. Christ as a lamb without spot or blemish.
        B. For a while all hope was lost.
                1. While He lived and taught disciples had great hopes.
                2. The cross for a time ended these hopes.
                        a. Disciples on road to Emmaus, "We had hoped."
                3. Wellington and battle of Waterloo.
                4. The cross it seemed Christ defeated.
                5. Resurrection completed the message.
                        "Christ defeated the enemy. "
        C. Today His victory shared with us.
                1. "We are more than conquerors.
                2. "Thanks be to God who giveth us the victory through Jesus Christ."

II. WHAT THE CROSS MEANS TO OUR PRESENT LIFE.
        A. "Who are kept by the power of God."
                1. "The preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but  unto 
                   us who are saved thereby it is the power of God."
                2. It means that Christ is ever present to share His power.
