I THESSALONIANS 5:18

"GOD'S WILL FOR YOU"

I. THIS IS A COMMON CONCERN.
        A. One of the most often asked questions of sincere believers. "How can I  know God's
           will?"
        B. It is a correct concern.
                1. We each of us should be asking, "What does God want me to do?"
                        a. Paul's first question upon recognition of Lordship of Jesus,
                                "Who art thou, Lord?"
        C. What is God's will for you?
                1. "In everything give thanks."
                        a. Let's start here.
                        b. People don't like this.
        1. I want to know whether or not to move.
        2. That's so elementary.
                        c. How can you graduate into High School if you flunk  elementary
                           school? 
        1. You want to learn to read without learning your
                numbers.
                        d. We must begin with basics.

II. HOW CAN I GIVE THANKS IN EVERYTHING?
        A. You may object, "That's hard to do", I'll go you one better -"That's
        impossible to do, unless..."
                1. God would never command you to do something impossible without  also
                   enabling you to obey.
                2. To the blind He says "see";To the deaf He says "hear";To the lame  He says
                   "walk";To the feeble He says "be strong."
        a. All of them impossible commands in the natural.
        b. But the blind did see, the lame did walk.
        B. You must be absolutely assured of three things.
                1. God loves me.
                        a. To be assured, don't look at yourself. You'll be asking, "How  can
                           God love me?"
                        b. You must look to God's Word.
                        c. Satan will tell you God doesn't love you.
        1. So often point to circumstances to prove his point. 
        2. If God loved you, why did He allow...?
                2. God is in control of everything that has to do with my life.
                        a. Nothing can happen to me that God does not allow or control.
                        b. Awesome implications. If I complain about anything, I am 
                           complaining against God. 
                                1. But I just lost my job. 
                                2. They just repossessed my car. 
                                3. I've just been evicted.
                3. God is wiser than I.
                        a. You say, "Oh, anybody knows that."
                                1. Do you?
                                2. How often this lump of clay has challenged the potter.
                                3. After many, many years in looking back, I must admit  He
                                   was always right.
                        b. You say, "It's hard to live with someone who is always right."
