COLOSSIANS 1:18,19

"THE SOVEREIGNTY OF CHRIST"

I. NECESSARY TO PERSONAL SALVATION.
        A. Two requirements for salvation.
                1. Confession of Jesus as Lord.
                2. Believing in heart God has raised Him from dead.
        B. What it means to confess Jesus as Lord.
                1. To acknowledge Him as Ruler.
                2. "Ye are not your own."
                3. You cannot acknowledge Him as Lord and not obey His word.
                        a. It implies obedience to His Word.
                        b. "He that hath my commandments and keepth them."
                                1. "Study to show thyself approved."
                                2. "Pray without ceasing."
                                3. "Confess me before men."
                4. To acknowledge Him First (Pre-eminent).
                        a. He must have first place in our lives.
                                1. First love.
                                2. First enemy.
