 Ephesians 1:20

I. And set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places.
        A. Not only was Jesus raised from the dead by that mighty power
that is available to us as believers, but God has set Him
at His own right hand in the heavenly places.
                1. Jesus Christ today is at the right hand of the Father
                   in glory.
                        a. This was prophesied in the psalms.
PSA 110:1 {A Psalm of David.} The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at
my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
                        b. When the high priest asked Jesus, "Are you the
Messiah the Son of the blessed?" Jesus
                           answered,
MAR 14:62 I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand
of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
                        c. At the end of Mark's gospel he tells us,
MAR 16:19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up
into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
                        d. On the day of Pentecost as Peter was preaching
to the assembled crowd concerning Jesus, he
                           declared,
ACS 2:25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always
before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be
          moved:
ACS 2:26  Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad;
moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
ACS 2:27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou
suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
ACS 2:28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me
full of joy with thy countenance.
ACS 2:29 Men [and] brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the
patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his
sepulchre is with us unto this day.
ACS 2:30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with
an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the
          flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
ACS 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that
his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see
          corruption.
ACS 2:32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
ACS 2:33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having
received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath
shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
                        e. We are told concerning Stephen as he was
                           standing before the counsel,
ACS 7:55 That he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly
into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on
          the right hand of God,
ACS 7:56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man
standing on the right hand of God.
                        f. Paul tells us that He is there making
                           intercession for us.
ROM 8:34 Who [is] he that condemneth? [It is] Christ that died, yea
rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of
God, who also maketh intercession for us.
                        g. Paul wrote to the Colossians,
COL 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are
above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
                        h. The author of the book of Hebrews writes
                           concerning Jesus,
HEB 1:3 Who being the brightness of [his] glory, and the express image
of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his
power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the
          right hand of the Majesty on high;
HEB 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for
          ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
HEB 10:13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his
          footstool.
                        i. Jesus promised to the overcomers in the Church
                           of Thyatira,
REV 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne,
even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his
          throne.

II. Far above all principality and power, might or dominion, and every
    name that is named.
        A. Principality, power, might and dominion are rankings of the
spirit world. Much like major, captain, sergeant, corporal.
        B. Jesus is far above them all.
                1. The Jehovah Witnesses declare that Jesus is Michael the
arch angel. He is far above Michael.
                2. The Mormons teach that Jesus is the brother to Lucifer.
                   He is far above Lucifer.
                3. Both Michael and Lucifer were created by Jesus.
                        a. "All things were made by Him, and without Him
was not anything made that was made."
                        b.
COL 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that
are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones,
or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were
created by him, and for him:
                1. The angels were created for Him, so that those that
left their first estate, or first principals, are many
of them being kept in chains of darkness awaiting the
                   day of judgment.
2PE 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast [them]
down to hell, and delivered [them] into chains of darkness, to
         be reserved unto judgment;
JDE 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their
own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under
darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
        C. As Paul is speaking of our secure position in Christ, he
           declared,
ROM 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to
         come,
ROM 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to
separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our
         Lord.
                1. Notice the angels are listed with the principalities
                   and powers.
                2. These principalities and powers are divided into two
                   camps.
                        a. Those who remained true to their first
                           principals as servants of God.
                        b. Those who joined with Lucifer in his rebellion
against the rule of God. The book of Revelation
speaks of Satan drawing a third part of the
stars of heaven with his tail by which we
understand that a third of the angels joined
                           him in his rebellion.
                        c. These comprise the principalities and powers
that seem to be given dominion over certain
                           portions of the earth.
                        d. When Ezekiel addresses the King of Tyrus, in
Ezekiel 28, he goes right into a description
                           of Satan.
                        e. The angel that was dispatched to Daniel with an
answer to his supplication was detained by whom
he described the prince of kingdom of Persia
for several days. Daniel 10, he then explained
how that when he left Daniel he would return to
the battle against him, and following him, the
                           prince of Grecia.
        D. In Ephesians 3 Paul teaches,
EPH 3:9 And to make all [men] see what [is] the fellowship of the
mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in
God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
EPH 3:10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in
heavenly [places] might be known by the church the manifold
         wisdom of God,
EPH 3:11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ
         Jesus our Lord:
                1. He tells us that God, through the church is revealing
to the principalities and powers in the heavenly
places the manifold wisdom of God.
                2. God's infinite love in granting us salvation through
the giving of His Son for us is a marvel to the angels.
1PE 1:10 Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched
diligently, who prophesied of the grace [that should come] unto
         you:
1PE 1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which
was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the
sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
1PE 1:12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us
they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by
them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost
sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look
         into
        E. In the sixth chapter Paul tells us that the real warfare is a
spiritual warfare against these principalities and powers.
EPH 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of
         his might.
EPH 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand
against the wiles of the devil.
EPH 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the
darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high
         [places].
        F. Paul revealed to the Colossians that Jesus is above these
           principalities and powers.
COL 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality
         and power:
                1. The head of all, or the authority over all principality
                   and power.
                2. Mark tells us that the people marveled because the
                   unclean spirits obeyed Him.
                3. The disciples rejoiced that the demons were subject
unto them through the name of Jesus.
                4. Paul said to the damsel who had a spirit of divination,
ACS 16:18 I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.
And he came out the same hour.
        G. Paul taught them that Jesus spoiled these principalities and
powers through His death on the cross whereby He triumphed over
           them.
III. Far above every name that is named.
        A. Peter speaking to the counsel declared,
ACS 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that
by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom
God raised from the dead, [even] by him doth this man stand here
          before you whole.
ACS 4:11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which
is become the head of the corner.
ACS 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other
name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
        B. Paul wrote to the Philippians,
PHI 2:1 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name
          which is above every name:
PHI 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in
          heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth;
PHI 2:11 And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is]
Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
        C. Psalm 22 is prophetic of Jesus and the Psalmist declares,
PSA 22:27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the
LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before
          thee.
PSA 22:28 For the kingdom [is] the LORD'S: and he [is] the governor among
          the nations.
PSA 22:29 All [they that be] fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all
they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can
          keep alive his own soul.
        D. Isaiah prophesied of Jesus saying,
ISA 45:23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth [in]
righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee
shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
        E. Paul quotes this in Romans,
ROM 14:11 For it is written, [As] I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall
bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
        F. The name of Jesus is above all names.
                1. It is a Greek for the Hebrew name Joshua which is a
                   contraction of Jehovah is salvation.
                2. The name Jehovah is a strong tower, the righteous
runneth into it and is safe.
                3. God proclaimed His name and it's meaning to Moses
EXO 34:5 And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there,
and proclaimed the name of the LORD.
EXO 34:6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The
LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and
          abundant in goodness and truth,
EXO 34:7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and
          transgression and sin.
        G. It is the name of God. God is not a name but a title, there are
many gods with many different names, Mammon, Baal, Molech,
Ashtoreth, Zeus, Venus, Thor, Jaguar, Lotus, BMW.
                1. There is only one true and living God, and His name is
Yaweh, in Hebrew and Jesus, in Greek.
                2. One day, sooner or later, you will bow your knee to Him
and declare that He is Lord to the glory of God the
                   Father. Better sooner than later.
