LUKE 19:10

"SAVING THE LOST"

I. JESUS REFERRING TO LOSS OF YOUR SOUL.
        A. Sad when someone loses their fortune.
        B. Worse yet should they lose their health.
        C. Tragic to lose your reputation.
        D. Sad to lose your loved ones.
        E. Greatest loss is that of your own soul.
                1. Rather go through life a beggar.
                2. Rather go through life an invalid.

II. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE LOST?
        A. Your spirit is dead, insensate.
                1. Unconscious of God, His love, presence.
                2. Separated from the life of God.
                        a. Living without hope.
                3. Living on animal plane.
                        a. You have a body and consciousness governed by your body needs.
        B. It means the horizons of your life very narrow.
                1. Life is measured by birth to death.
                2. Your will and pleasure have top priority.
                        a. This becomes your standard of measurement for your activities.

III. WHEN IS A PERSON LOST?
        A. In life.
                1. A loss to your family.
                2. A loss to your community.
        B. In death.
                1. You have chosen a life separated from God and He shall now honor your 
                   choice.
                2. You have chosen not to submit to His Lordship, so entrance to His Kingdom 
                   is Kingdom is forbidden to you.

IV. WHY IS A PERSON LOST?
        A. Because of sin.
                1. "We were born in sin" sinful nature.
                2. We have lived in sin, disobedient to the will of God.
                        a. Paul describes our condition in Romans 1:29-3l.
                        b. These are the people Jesus came to seek.
                        c. These are the ones He seeks to save.

V. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO SAVE?
        A. Saved from the guilt of your sins.
                1. Your sins are forgiven.
                2. Your guilt is put away.
                3. "O how happy is the man whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is 
                   covered."
        B. Saved from the power of sin.
                1. People do not always sin because they want to.
                        a. Many hate what they are doing.
                        b. Hate themselves for doing it.
                2. We find ourselves subject unto        .

VI. HOW DOES HE SAVE US?
        A. By taking upon Himself our sin and guilt.
                1. He accepted the responsibility for the things you did.
                2. "All we like sheep...."
        B. By dying in our place.
        C. By giving us a new nature, His.

VII. HOW IS A PERSON SAVED?
        A. By believing in the Lord Jesus Christ.
