LUKE 19:1-10

"LOST"

Intro: Jesus entered and passed through Jericho" Why? Zacchaeos who he was,  He  sought to see
       Jesus, "who He was"  Received Jesus joyfully. When "they" saw it  "they all" murmured.
       The closed door. Zacchaeus declaration of restitution and  restoration. A changed man,
       from greed to generosity. He had gone in  mastered by the power to give something
       happened inside, what? Salvation. "For the Son of man has come to seek and to 
       save...lost."

I. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE "LOST?"
        A. We have heard of people losing their health.
        B. We have heard of people losing their reputation.
        C. We have heard of people losing their loved one.
        D. We have heard of people losing their fortune.
        E. Jesus means the loss of soul.
                1. Lost from God.
                2. "What should it profit a man if he . . "
                3. The most tragic experience one could ever know.
        F. I would rather go through life sick and when I die go to heaven then... I would 
           rather go through life a pauper.

II. WHEN IS A PERSON LOST?
        A. In life you are a loss to yourself.
                1. Not knowing the peace, love or joy of God.
                2. You see, things from self centered view. Seeking to save your life you lose
                   it.
                3. You never come into full bloom. A bud that never opens to full beauty, life
                   does not gave off lovely fragrance.
        B. You are a loss to your family.
                1. You fail them in the most important area.
                        a. You may provide for them materially.
                        b. You may give them love and security.
                        c. Failing to lead and guide them into the most vital realms-spiritual.
                2. You do not enter into the fullest relationship.
        C. You are a loss to your community.
                1. You may be active in community affairs.
                2. You may be interested in community good.
                3. The greatest community need is spiritual.. To see a living example of true
                   Christianity.
        D. You are a loss to God.
                1. He created you for fellowship.
                2. He created you that you might love Him.
        E. In death the moment your soul and spirit leave your body your fate is sealed.
                1. "He that believeth on the Son hath.."
        F. Before judgment bar of God. Rev. 20.

III. WHY IS A PERSON LOST?
        A. Sometimes pride.
        B. Procrastination.
        C. Because you refuse to accept God's provision for your salvation.
                1. What must I do to be saved?
                2. What must I do to be lost? Nothing.

IV. THE MISSION OF JESUS UPON THE EARTH.
        A. "To seek and to save."
                1. Some do not want to be saved.
                        a. Possible to go so far you scoff at idea.
                        b. Young people in Copenhagen.
                        c. You can be sure, He will not save you against your will.
        B. He is seeking you out today.
                1. Your coming here not by accident. 
                2. He is offering you salvation.
                3. You are like a drowning man who has had a life buoy tossed to him.
                        You may take hold and be saved.
                        You may reject and be lost.
