LUKE 5:1-11

Intro: Crowd pressing Peter's boat.

I. THREE FACTS IN THIS STORY.
        A. There was contact with Jesus as a Master.
                1. Contact when man turns over control of life.
                2. Close contact so His plan may be seen.
                3. Continued contact so He may guide.
        B. Obedience to the Master's Word.
                1. Peter may have argued.
        C. There were unexpected large results.

II. SAVED TO SERVE (LAUNCH OUT).
        A. First call - come.
                1. No sooner answered till changed to go.
        B. Service should be keynote in life of everyone.

III. "INTO THE DEEP" AMBITION.
        A. Shore waters over-fished.
                1. Churchs trying to draw members from another church.
        B. Spiritual depths all around.
                1. Prayer.
                2. Bible.
                3. Service.

IV. "LET DOWN YOUR NET" (USE WHAT YOU HAVE).
        A. Hear Peter say "Master if we had known Your plans."
                1. Let the Pastor speak to that person.
                2. Let someone else teach the class.
        B. Your best may not be the best.
        C. Shagmar and of Goad.
        D. David and swing.
        E. Woman on East coast of Mediterranean Joppa.
        F. While pursuing your best realize your dependance on God.
                1. The nets begin to break.
                        a. They were to use the nets but the power was somewhere else.

V. "FOR A DRAUGHT."
        A. How much is a draught?
                1. After previous nights work Peter settled for half a boat.
                2. Twice as much as you can handle and more.
        B. How much do you think a draught would be in our church, our life, our field?
                Expectancy is eye of faith. Faith is looking up. Expectancy is looking out.
