LUKE 2:8-14

"PEACE ON EARTH"

Intro: "Those days Caesar Augustus" first Roman Emperor, real name Calus  Octavious.

I. THE MESSAGE OF THE ANGELS - "GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST, AND ON EARTH, PEACE.
        A. Where on earth is peace?
                1. Man's history filled with fighting and conflicts.
                2. Look at striving Within our own nation.
        B. Were the angels playing some sort of cruel joke?
                1. Holding out false hope to man?
        C. "Peace among men with whom God is pleased."
                1. Out of the vast~society a segment would arise who will know peace.

II. WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF UNREST TODAY?
        A. Moral sickness without remedy.
                1. Conflict between good and evil.
                        a. Within my own nature.
                        b. Within the city and county governments.
                        c. Within the nation.
                        d. In the world from beginning.
                2. It seems victory on side of evil.
                3. The outcome is perpetual unrest.
        B. Suffering without relief.
                1. Suffering of poverty.
                2. Suffering of sickness.
                3. In nature no proof of God's sympathy.
                        a. Take away this Christ-child the Christian fact out of the world no
                           proof.
                        b. The sun will shine as brightly on your dead child as your live.
                        c. Nature sheds not tears for your sorrow.
        C. Death without hope.
                1. Philosophy has no proof of immortality.
                2. If Christ was not born, this stroy just a myth, we have no sure evidence of
                   life beyond the grave.
                3. These things create unrest In' the world today.

III. PEACE FOR WHOM? "MEN WITH WHOM GOD IS PLEASED."
        A. With what kind of man is God pleased?
                1. At baptism "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased."
                2. He was led by the Spirit of God.
                3. He walked in fell~wship with God.
                4. He was submitted to God "Not my will."
        B. Jesus Christ was a man who knew perfect peace.
                1. Never a situation but what this peace prevailed.
                        a. Conflict with Pharisees.
                        b. Stormy sea.
                        c. death "No man takes my life, I give it."
                        d. The excited scene of the trial.

IV. THERE IS PEACE IN THE EARTH TODAY.
        A. In every heart and life that has yielded unto God.
