"DEMON POSSESSION"

Intro: Demons are wicked, evil, unclean spirits that seek to inhabit human
       bodies,  who when they do can take over the motor functions, they
       can speak through  the person, exercise unusual strength, they can
       inflict physical or mental  maladies. Daimon.

I. ORIGIN OF DEMONS UNCERTAIN.
        A. Possibly fallen angels.
        1. Angels which kept not first principles.
        2. "Sons of God."
        3. Gehenna prepared for Satan and his angels.
        B. Spirits of evil dead.
        C. Spirits of pre-adamic race.
        D. Their incarceration is in the abusso.

II. SCRIPTURAL CASES OF DEMON POSSESSION.
        A. Man in Synagogue Mk. 1:21 Luke 4:31.
        1. Recognized Jesus.
        2. Cried with loud voice.
        3. Tore the man and threw him in the midst.
        B. Gadara Matt. 8:28 (mentions 2. Mark 5:1 Luke 8:20. 
                1. Exceeding fierce.
                2. Great strength.
                3. Crying out, recognized Jesus.
                4. Sought not to be sent to Abusso.
        C. Dumb man Matt. 9:32. Deaf and dumb in Mark 7 no mention of
           demon.
        D. Dumb and blind Matt. 12:22 Luke 11:14.
        E. Mark 3:11 Tell of their recognizing Jesus.
        F. Man's son Matt 17:14 Mark 9:14 Luke 9:37.
                1. Lunatic.
                2. Sore vexed.
                3. Deaf and Dumb.
                4. Tears, foams, gnashes, pineth away.
        G. Syrophenician woman Matt. 15:21 Mark 7 Daughter grievously
           vexed.
        H. Woman Luke 13:10.
                1. Bowed together, could not life herself up.
        I. Acts 19:11 Man.
                1. Great strength.
        J. Mary Magdalene had seven devils Luke 8:2.

III. HOW DOES ONE BECOME POSSESSED?
        A. Delving into spiritualism, witchcraft, ouija.
                1. Forbidden in O.T.
        B. Any unbeliever susceptible Eph. 2:2.
        C. Leaving house empty Matt. 12:33.

IV. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POSSESSION AND OPPRESSION.
        A. Possession implies control. Indwelling.
        B. Oppression is an attack from without.
                1. Paul refers to a "messenger" of Satan to buffet..
                   2 Cor. 12:7.
                2. Eph. 6 We wrestle not against flesh.
                3. 1 Pet. 5:8 going about as roaring lion.

V. HOW THEY ARE EXORCISED.
        A. Christ gave authority to disciples Matt. 10:7, Mark 6:7
           Luke 9:1.
                1. Heal the sick, cleanse leper, cast out devils.
                2. Devils subject unto us.
        B. Sign of believer Mark 16:17. "In my name they shall cast out
           devils."  (fasting & prayer).
        C. Acts 19:12 Handkerchiefs and aprons from Paul.
        D. They are subject to name of Jesus.

VI. OUR RELATIONSHIP - COMPLETE VICTORY IN CHRIST.
        Eph. 4:27 "Give no place to the devil" James 4:7 "Resist the
                   devil..."
