MATTHEW 7:21.23

"TAKING THE NAME OF THE LORD IN VAIN"

Difficulty of such texts, Unfaithful Doctor.

I. "NOT ALL WHO SAY LORD, LORD SHALL ENTER."
        A. The way to entrance in dom is through confession of Him as Lord. Rom. 10:9.
                1. Lord not a name, but a title.
                        a. Title of mastery or rulership.
                        b. To truly confess Christ as Lord is to submit myself totally to Him.
                        c. To confess Him as Lord and not to obey Him is a false confession
and is taking the name of the Lord in vain. "Why callest thou me
Lord and do not the things I command you?"
                2. The man on the street whose language may sound so foul is not as guilty of
blaspheme as the man who says I want God's will for my life and then never
                   asks questions.
                        a. Worldly man not conscious of vocabulary.
                        b. How can you follow God's will without asking questions? "In all thy
                           ways acknowledge Him."
                        c. How many of you prayed last Sunday evening and asked God if you
                           should stay home?
                3. Paul on Damascus road.
                        a. Who are thou Lord?
                        b. What wouldst thou have me do?
                        c. Should be waking question of the morning.

lI. THE SIN OF TAKING NAME OF LORD IN VAIN.
        A. One of most deadly sins.
                1. So deceptive.
                        a. I think because I can still say the right things , all's well.
                        b. Gahazi.
                2. So prevalent.
                        a. Many shall come saying Lord.
