ISAIAH 61: 1 -3

"OUR GLORIOUS GOSPEL"

I. TO WHOM HAS THE GOSPEL COME? "TO PREACH GOOD TIDINGS TO THE MEEK."
                A. Who are the meek?
                        1. Those who are conscious of the need in their life.
                        2. Best way to understand the word is to take it part: 
                           me - ek.
                B. There are those who feel no need of the Gospel.
                        1. They are very satisfied with themselves.
                        2. To preach to them is a waste of time.

II. WHAT DOES THE GOSPEL DO?
        A. Binds up the broken - hearted.
                1. So many with broken hearts.
                        a. Lack of acceptance by someone you love.
                        b. Consciousness of your own failure.
        B. Liberates the captive.
                1. A captive of Satan. II Timothy 2:26.
                        a. Sin often times gets to the place where you have lost the
                           pleasure. You may now hate it.
                2. A captive of your own lusts.
                3. Jesus came to liberate you.
        C. Opens the prison to them that are abound.
                1. Do not feel trapped, like there is no way out?
                2. I have good news for you.
                3. What if you were in a federal prison in Mexico.
                        a. Someone said, I have a friend that can get you out of here.

III. THE URGENCY OF THE GOSPEL. "THE ACCEPTABLE YEAR OF THE LORD."
        A. Now is the time to accept God's offer.
                1. Offer is subject to withdrawal at any time.
                2. God said, "My Spirit wilt not always strive with man."
                3. The sun is fast setting on the day of grace.
        B. The night of the vengeance of our God is very near.

IV. WHAT WILL THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE GOSPEL DO?
        A. Give you beauty for ashes.
                1. Some people's lives are burned out.
                2. They are wasted, destroyed, nothing but ashes left.
                3. God can recreated.
        B. Gives the oil of joy for mourning.
                1. Some get so depressed with life.
        C. The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.
                1. Praise is often an act of faith.

V. THE PURPOSE OF THE GOSPEL. "THAT HE MIGHT BE GLORIFIED."
        A. Through His work in your life.

VI. WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?
        A. God loves you and sent His Son to be the Savior of the world.
