ISAIAH 12:2-5

"GOD IS MY SALVATION"

I. MY NEED OF SALVATION.
        A. I was born lost.
                1. I was by nature a sinner.
                        a. "Foolishness of world bound up in heart of a child."
                        b. "Were by nature children of wrath."
        B. I was a sinner by choice.
                1. Back in the olden days - listened to Red Skelton on radio, "If I
                   dood it I get a whipping."
        C. I needed saving from myself.
                1. My goals were all self oriented.
                        a. I desired to be a doctor - why?
                2. My life drifting aimlessly on sea of life.
                        a. Jesus gave me direction - purpose.
        D. I needed saving from my fate.
                1. I had chosen the path of death.
                        a. It didn't appear to be.
                        b. There is a way that seems right unto man.

II. "GOD" IS MY SALVATION.
        A. I could not save myself.
                1. I watch people struggle today to be good.
                2. They become the biggest hypocrites and liars.
                        a. They put on a big act.
                        b. They start justifying every crooked thing they do.
                3. I could reform myself.
        B. People look to different saviors.
                1. Drugs are my salvation.
                2. Beer is my salvation.
                3. My wife is my salvation.
                4. The church is my salvation.

III. HOW DID GOD PROVIDE MY SALVATION?
        A. He sent His Son to this earth, "Jesus" for He shall save His people from
           their sins."
                1. Jesus took upon Himself all my sins, those things that were
                   destroying me.
                2. He accepted the responsibility and guilt for my evil, and died
                   in my place.
                        a. "For God was in Christ reconciling the word to Himself."
                        b. Jesus was not trying to persuade the Father to love me,
                           just proving.
        B. He raised His Son from the dead and received Him back to glory.
                1. He now imparts to me the power of His risen life.

IV. BECAUSE GOD IS MY SALVATION.
        A. I will trust Him.
                1. No longer trust in myself.
                        a. "The heart is deceitful."
                        b. "I know that in me i.e. in my flesh.."
                2. No longer trust my works.
                        a. Our righteousness as filthy rags.
                3. He is trustworthy and shall not fail.
        B. I will not be afraid.
                1. One of Satan's tools is fear.
                2. If I am trusting I cannot fear.
                3. If I fear, I am not trusting.
        C. With joy will I draw water out of-the wells of salvation.
                1. Difference between well and cistern.
                2. The joy is because of the assurance.
Say "Praise              a. The assurance is because God is my salvation.
the Lord."                        1. My efforts - my church - my friends may fail.
                                     No assurance- NO JOY.

Last            3. If any man thirst let him come...
