PSALM 138:8

"GOD'S PERFECT WORK"

I. WHO MAY HAVE THIS ASSURANCE?
        A. Those who are concerned about God.
        B. Those who have sought God's mercy.
        C. Those in whose lives, God is working.

II. WHAT ARE YOUR CONCERNS TODAY?
        A. My salvation, my flesh seems to be week.
                1. 1 make promises and vows to God, yet I fall.
                2. 1 think God is about to give up on me, and I don't blame Him.
                3. When did God start loving you?
                4. It is good that you are concerned about the weakness of your flesh.
        B. My prayer life.
        C. Guidance, I want to do the right thing.
        D. Eternity, I want to spend it in the Kingdom of God.
                1. I don't know if I can hold on.
                2. Mountain climber.
                3. It's not so much your ability to hold on to God, His ability to hold
                   on to you.
                4. "Now unto Him who is able."
                5. "Being confident of this, that He that . . ."

Ill. THE BASIS OF OUR ASSURANCE "THY MERCY O LORD ENDURETH FOREVER."
        A. My trust is not in my righteousness but in God's mercy.
                1. I have heard of men that you can only trust them as far as you can
                   see them.
                        a. Some seem to trust God that way.
        B. I cast myself upon the mercy of God.
                1. "Nothing in my hand I bring, simply . . ."
                2. The Pharisee and the publican.
        C. God will not reject the plea for mercy.

IV. THE FRUIT OF MY ASSURANCE, PRAYER, "FORSAKE NOT THE WORK OF THY HANDS."
        A. Unless my assurance leads me to positive actions toward a better relationship
with God, it is false assurance.
                1. We should never be passive towards God.
                2. We should hunger and thirst.
        B. With some people their religion is the work of their hands.
                1. Based upon their sweet and positive thoughts.
                2. Based upon their good works.
                3. This is the unfortunate case with much of Israel today.
        C. You are His "poiema" handiwork.
                1. Asking God not to forsake you or His work of love in your life.
                2. God will perfect that which concerneth you.
