JOB 23:3

"WHERE TO FIND GOD"

Intro: Eliphaz has just exhorted Job to acquaint himself with God and be
at peace, and good would come to him.

I. JOB'S EFFORT TO FIND GOD "OH THAT I KNEW WHERE I MIGHT FIND HIM."
        A. It's amazing how far away God sometimes seems.
                1. Usually when we are going through a trial.
                2. It seems as though our prayers are not heard.
                3. We search so hard for guidance.
        B. Job desired to come to His throne to plead his case.
                1. He knew he would there find strength.
                2. He would receive deliverance.
                3. If he could only somehow touch God's throne.
        C. Job's search for God.
                1. Vs. 8 Forward & backward.
                2. Vs. 9 On the left and right.
                3. He could see God working yet he could not fully
                   discover Him.
                        a. Some say they find God in nature.
                        b. Nature testifies of the existance of God.
                        c. Natures testimony is incomplete.
                                1. God speaks to me in the breeze
                                   He is gentle, cool, refreshing.
                                2. What if you get caught in a
                                   tornado? He is wild, fierce,
                                   destructive.

II. JESUS SAID, HE THAT HATH SEEN ME . . . PHILIP HATH SEEN THE
FATHER, THE WORDS AND THE WORKS ARE GOD'S.
        A. What had Philip seen?
                1. Jesus found Philip and said "follow me."
                2. When the multitude had been following Jesus
and were now physically weak, He said to Philip, where
can we buy bread to fee them?
                3. There were certain Greeks who came to Philip seeking
Jesus, when Philip told Him, he heard Him say "the hour
is now come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Except
a corn of wheat fall in the . . ."
                4. And then he was there when Jesus took a towel and
began to wash His disciples feet.
        B. What had Philip seen of God?
                1. He saw God seeking the lost and bringing them to a
                   new life. "He that hath..."
                2. He saw God's concern for the physical needs and His
                   miraculous supply. "He that..."
                3. He saw the suffering and agony of God for a lost
world, His willingness to give all in order to save.
                   "He that hath . . ."
                4. He saw God stooping down to serve man, desiring to
minister to man's needs "He that hath. . ."

Ill TO YOU TODAY WHO ARE SEEKING TO FIND GOD.
        A. Jesus said, "Come unto Me."
        B. Jesus said, "I am the Way, the . . ."
