The earth was corrupt before God. D. The earth was filled with violence. E. These are the conditions that brought God's judgment. F. The present condition of the world. 1. Rising crime rate, crimes of violence. 2. Corruption that-exists. a. Man incapable of ruling himself. 3. Corrupting influences. a. Magazines. b. Paperbacks. c. Movies. d. Television. e. Stage. II. THE CONDITION OF NOAH. A. A just man and perfect (upright or sincere.. B. Noah walked with God. 1. In the midst of a corrupted world about him. a. He was out of step with his times b. Sometimes it is a good thing to be out of step with the times. 2. He chose fellowship with God over fellowship with the wicked world. a. Result. 1. God warned him of impending flood. 2. By faith he began to build the ark. III. THE WARNING OF GOD TO THAT WORLD "MY SPIRIT SHALL NOT ALWAYS STRIVE WITH MAN." A. Thank God His Spirit does strive. 1. Inference that His Spirit was striving with these people. a. Rebuking, warning, pleading, convicting. B. There inevitably comes a time when His Spirit no longer strives. 1. The long-suffering of God. a. Don't mistake it for condolence. b. Don't mistake it for weakness. 2. There always follows judgment. IV. THE WARNING OF CHRIST CONCERNING THE LAST DAYS "AS IT WAS IN THE DAY OF NOAH SO SHALL THE COMING OF THE SON OF MAN BE." A. They thought they were getting by with their evil. B. They thought that if God did exist He had withdrawn. C. Perhaps some of them thought that God was too good to punish them. As sure as God's judgment came upon the evil world of Noah's day As sure as God warned Noah how to escape that judgment. |
